Two Injured in Crash Into Carrollton Township Home
Police and fire units were on the scene of a crash in Carrollton Township for several hours Wednesday night after a car drove into a house.
The crash occurred in the 4000 block of North Michigan Avenue near McCarty Road around 7:33 p.m. Police say a 27-year-old man was driving a silver Buick LaCrosse east on McCarty when it struck the bedroom of the home of a 73-year-old man and his 67-year-old wife. Witnesses on the scene describe the vehicle driving erratically at excessive speeds, disregarding traffic signals.
According to Carrollton Township Police Sergeant Christopher Kellett, the woman was in bed at the time of the crash. She suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was also taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The elderly man was uninjured.
The crash led to a fire that spread from the car into the home. The car was destroyed while the house sustained significant damage, according to Kellett. It isn’t known at this time if drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
