A 21-year-old mother is facing child abuse charges in Isabella County. State Police at the Mt. Pleasant Post were sent to an address in the 10,000 block of S. Mission Rd. in Shepherd on Tuesday morning, for reports of a mother who had a cord wrapped around her two-month-old baby’s neck.

Troopers conducted an investigation, and the baby was treated and released at a local hospital. They arrested the mother, 21-year-old Skyler Warner, on Thursday, and she was arraigned Friday on charges of Second Degree Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, and one count of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder Including Strangulation.

Troopers were assisted by the Central Michigan University Police Department, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, MMR Ambulance, and Mid-Michigan Medical Center. The investigation is ongoing.
