State Police Investigate Pedestrian Crash Involving Saginaw County Patrol Car
State Police are investigating a pedestrian crash that involved a Saginaw County Sheriff Department patrol car. State Troopers responded to East Rd. between Huntington and Evon Roads in Spaulding Township just after midnight Thursday, where an on-duty Saginaw County Sheriff’s deputy was heading south on East Rd. in a patrol car. At the same time, a 24-year-old man from Saginaw was walking south on East Rd., wearing dark clothing. As the patrol car passed, the passenger side mirror hit the pedestrian, who maintained his footing and kept walking. The deputy stopped and called for help.
The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. The Saginaw County Prosecutor’s office will be reviewing the case, once the investigation is complete. State Police remind you to wear reflective or high visibility clothing when out walking, especially after dark. They also recommend that you walk facing traffic as far left as possible, if no sidewalks are available.
