Saginaw’s Covenant Healthcare Has Highest Number of COVID-19 Patients In Michigan

A local hospital is feeling the full effects of COVID-19 care as it reports the highest numbers of cases in the state of Michigan.

Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw reported Friday, November 201 192 coronavirus patients. 31 of those patients are in intensive care. 50 percent of patients in in-patient care have tested positive for COVID-19, according to hospital data.

Adding to the problem are the extended length of stays and discharge barriers which are creating challenges to the hospital’s COVID-19 capacity.

As the report was released Friday, the numbers may have changed.

Henry Ford Macomb Hospital followed Covenant with 164 COVID-19 hospitalizations and 27 in intensive care.
