Saginaw GM Plant Lays Off Third Shift Workers

About 45 employees working at Saginaw’s GM Metal Casting Operations plant were laid off Friday, April 30.

Officials with UAW Local 668 confirmed the third shift of the plant’s High Feature V6 line was being eliminated due to a 20 percent reduction in volume and a switch to a four cylinder engine. That will leave around 460 employees at the plant, including skilled trades, salaried employees and production workers.
