Kochville Township Shooting Kills One

A 21-year-old man from Saginaw is dead after a shooting in the Cardinal Square area of Kochville Township. The Saginaw County Sheriff’s office said around midnight Sunday, deputies who were in the parking lot of the Target store heard shots fired in the area of Trautner Dr. They found several brass 9 millimeter casings in the road near Trautner and Bay Rd.

Two gunshot victims believed to have been involved came into the emergency room at Covenant Healthcare a short time later. One of the victims, identified as 21-year-old Darius Jackson, was in serious condition and later died. The second victim was grazed on his head by a bullet, and a third victim was not injured. The victims weren’t able to give police any information.

The sheriff’s office said it appears the victims had been at the Home2 Suites hotel and were heading west on Trautner toward Bay Rd.,  when the suspect vehicle came up behind them and started shooting. The gunfire hit the victims vehicle several times, including Jackson, who was in the back seat. The 17-year-old driver was grazed on the head, and the 22-year-old front seat passenger was not hit. All of the victims were from Saginaw.
