Funeral for MSP Trooper Planned for Tuesday

State Police have announced the visitation and funeral plans for trooper Joel Popp, who died in the line of duty last Wednesday.

Popp was struck by a vehicle driven by an 81-year-old man during a traffic stop on I-75 near Birch Run. MSP says a private visitation was held Monday for family, friends, and classmates from the 137th Trooper Recruit School. A public visitation is planned from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Cederberg Funeral Home in Frankenmuth, and the funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at SVSU’s Ryder Center.

Organizers say there will not be a public procession to the cemetery.
