Employee Killed in Fall at Michigan Sugar

A 53-year-old Michigan Sugar Company employee died Tuesday night as the result of a fall inside the facility at 2600 S. Euclid in Bay City. Bay County Sheriff deputies responded to the plant just before 8:00 p.m.

The man was part of a crew cleaning a chute in an elevated area, when he fell about 120 feet to a dual-screw system that grinds sugar beets. His name was withheld until family could be notified.
