Wake Up Song of the Day: Clint Holmes “Playground In My Mind“. It’s a “One Hit Wonder Monday” song! For our purposes, defined as a singer or group known for only one song to chart on the U.S. Billboard Top 40. Or, even if a second song is on the chart, it is overwhelmed and generally forgotten because of the success of the “One Hit Wonder”. This English born singer released this as his first and only hit record that charted to #2 in the United States in 1973. It was written by Paul Vance with Lee Pockriss. Vance also produced the song which featured his seven-year-old son Philip, who sang on the chorus, both the boy’s and the girl’s parts for Michael and Cindy. Holmes was the announcer for The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers (1986–1988). In 1991 he hosted “New York at Night,” a talk show that aired on WWOR in New York City for a year and won a local Emmy.
