Wake Up Song of the Day:     Terry Jacks “Seasons in the Sun”.   It’s the Friday Flashback Song!   We “Flash Back” in 10-20-30-40-50-60-70 year increments to find Number One Songs at this time that are still remembered today, along with the artists and groups that perform.   Or, Number One Songs that are long forgotten, along with the artists and groups that perform.   Fifty years ago, in 1974, this song topped the U.S. Chart for 3 weeks.  The original version of the song was by a Belgian singer.   The Kingston Trio recorded a version in 1964.   The song was then intended for the Beach Boys, with Jacks serving as producer for the recording.   However, after the group decided not to release it, Jacks decided to record it himself.

Contrary to popular belief, the song is NOT about a dog dying.   That myth is thought to be because of the “B” side of the single of “Seasons in the Sun”.   That was a song titled “Put the Bone In”, an original composition about burying a deceased pet dog.
