Costco Approved by Midland City Planning Commission

The City of Midland has taken another step towards attracting retail giant Costco.
In August, Midland received a site plan review application from Costco Wholesale Corporation to add a new 157,000 square foot retail warehouse, tire center, and gas station on the corner of Bay City Road and Rockwell drive.
Residents all over the Great Lakes Bay Region have given a positive response when asked about the addition to the area, as the next closest Costco is in East Lansing.
According to their website, Costco has 15 Michigan locations.
Tuesday, Midland’s Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of the site plan, which now moves to City Council for final approval.
A Costco store could bring some 200 full-time jobs to the area.
