Jerome Township Home Damaged in Saturday Fire

A fire damaged a home south of Sanford on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Jerome Township Fire Department, crews responded to a house around 1:15 after a resident returned home to find smoke coming from the building. Authorities closed 7 Mile Road between Cole and Love Roads while the fire was extinguished. Officials say two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries. One of them was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, while the other drove himself to receive treatment.

The fire department says the fire was confined to one room of the home, but other parts of the structure were damaged by heat and smoke.
