Sports Bar Murder Suspect Officially Charged

A 32-year-old Saginaw man is charged with numerous felonies related to the shooting death of another Saginaw man on January 1.

Police say 36-year-old James Rodriguez was shot and killed at the Neutral Zone Sports Bar on South Michigan Avenue. The suspect Zachary Rodriguez, was on the run for a couple weeks and was considered armed and dangerous. Police say the suspect and victim were not related.

Rodriguez turned himself into police on Monday and was arraigned Tuesday in Saginaw County. He is charged with open murder, and multiple counts of felony firearm and felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He’s being held without bond in the Saginaw County Jail.
