Saginaw has a new sister city relationship with Amanokrom, Ghana in western Africa.

The city’s chief visited Saginaw last year as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the African Cultural Festival. That led to talks focusing on closer ties.

The chief’s economic advisor Mercy Akosua Yeboah returned to present a signed resolution to Saginaw City Council member Michael Balls during a ceremony in Saginaw’s First Ward Community Center Wednesday, August 28.

Both sides see opportunities to enhance relations when it comes to education, culture and economic development.
