Mt. Morris Woman Convicted of Sexual Abuse of Own Son

A woman who began a sexual relationship with her autistic son is looking at a life sentence in prison.

Prosecutors say 55-year-old Tamara White of Mt. Morris lost her parental rights to the child when he was only nine months old, though she maintained contact with the boy. When the boy was 16, he began to visit White, who prosecutors say began grooming him, leading to a sexual relationship over several months in 2018.

On Wednesday, a jury found White guilty on numerous charges of sexual misconduct, including including first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim who is mentally disabled and related to the defendant, sexually abusive activity, second-degree child abuse, possessing child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

White’s sentencing takes place June 4 in Genesee County.
