Boyfriend Charged In Death of Woman Whose Body Discovered In Flint River

Charges were filed last Friday against a man accused of killing his girlfriend in Genesee Township and dumping her body in the Flint River.

48-year-old Christina Barber was killed at the Flint Motel on Dixie Highway on February 28, according to police, who investigated after employees reported a large amount of blood in a room she rented. She had been reported missing after not showing up to work or answering her phone for about a week, according to police. Barber and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Christopher Motry, worked together at a local Burger King, where Motry allegedly recently became angry with the manager and ripped the door handles from her vehicle.

Police say they believe Motry killed Barber at the motel, then transported her body to the river in a plastic bag. The body was discovered by a fisherman about a week ago.

Motry was arraigned on charges of first degree premeditated murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of an individual and domestic violence. He’s being held in the Genesee County Jail without bond. HIs next court hearing is March 21.
