WSGW Special Message

A Special Message to Our WSGW Loyal Family of Radio Listeners:

Since 1950, when WSGW first started broadcasting, our greatest commitment has always been to our listeners. We often say, without YOU, we wouldn’t be here. With your radios, smart phones, computers, and other devices, You invite us into your homes, your vehicles, your work places, and beyond. WSGW is thankful for the longtime listeners we have had over the years, and also thankful for new generations of Loyal Listeners becoming part of the WSGW Family. We believe we have earned a reputation for being responsible, reliable, and trustworthy, not just for our on air content, but also for our participation in our local communities, THANKS TO YOU.

Now, we have reached the culmination of a project we’ve been working toward for years.

Almost three years ago, we began simulcasting the 790 WSGW Morning Team Show from 5:30am-9am on 100.5 FM. Eighteen months later, we were able to add our 9am to Noon 790 programming to the simulcast featuring the Art Lewis Show for two hours, followed by the Focus program, and Terry Henne with his Farm Show. All local news and information on both frequencies. That provided almost 50% of our hours simulcast.

As of today, December 1, we’ll finally complete the 24 hour simulcast by adding the Noon to 1am hours. This means a true simulcast of all WSGW programming. Regardless of where You are, You will be able to choose the frequency on which You can best listen to WSGW, either 100.5 or 790, plus online at WSGW.com, and Alexa and Siri will find us for You as well.

We are committed to being Your Source for Local News and Information in the Great Lakes Bay Region! This simulcast will increase the amount of local news on 100.5 by offering local updates in the afternoon, adding to the current morning updates. You will hear the Evening Roundup on both frequencies at 6pm featuring CBS and Ann Williams with local news, Business and Farm Finals, and at 6:30 the “Bill O’Reilly Update.”

We are also adding two new, local Public Affairs Programs on Sunday evenings, bringing minority contributions, culture, and concerns to our overall audience to expand local dialogue. These programs include at 7pm, “United Shades of Gray: A Conversation about Race In America” hosted by Kareem Bowen; and at 8pm, “Mi Gente On Air” hosted by Larry Rodarte.

Sports fans can still hear Tigers Baseball, Red Wings Hockey, Michigan Football and Basketball, Saginaw Spirit Hockey, and SVSU Football. We will still use both 100.5 and 790, broadcasting sports on one frequency and regular programming on the other, or perhaps two different sports events at the same time using the two frequencies, while often continuing to air regular programming on our internet streams.

With all this in mind, we say “THANK YOU,” for Your past support, Your present support, and for Your future support!
