Hemlock Teacher Awarded for STEM Efforts
A STEM teacher at Hemlock Middle School has been recognized with with the 2024 STEM STAR Award by Saginaw Valley State University and the MiSTEM Network – East Central Michigan Region.
The award acknowledges Joan Hoffman’s contributions to STEM education and her dedication to fostering a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among the district’s youth. Hoffman’s involvement as a FIRST Lego League Robotics coach has been instrumental in the recent qualification of both middle school teams for the State Championship. The accomplishment is a testament to her support and guidance. Hoffman’s dedication and expertise have been pivotal in nurturing the talents of the students.
Hoffman will receive the award at a March 20 STEM Teacher Dinner at SVSU, where she will also receive a $250 grant, provided by MiSTEM Region 10, to enhance STEM education in her classroom.
