Recently, a bipartisan “Battleground Poll” was produced by the Tarrance Group and Lake Research partners under the auspices of Georgetown University’s Institute of Politics.

Results show almost 9 in 10 Americans say they are frustrated by the uncivil and rude behavior of many politicians. About as many Americans say the compromise and common ground should the goal for political leaders.

At the same time, more than 8 in 10 polled say they were tired of leadings compromising “my values” and ideals, wanting leaders to stand up to the other side.

POLL QUESTION: What do you want from the politicians you vote for?
I want my politician to engage in more compromise and cooperation with the opposition –  22%
I want my politician to stand up and fight against the opposition –  13%
What I want my politician to do depends on the specific issue –  65%
