Wake Up Song of the Day: Dave Rose “The Stripper“. It’s the Friday Flashback Song! We “Flash Back” in 10-20-30-40-50 year increments to find Number One Songs at this time that are still remembered today, along with the artists and groups that perform. Or, Number One Songs that are long forgotten, along with the artists and groups that perform. On this date, 60 years ago in 1962, Dave was #1 for 1 week, with this song that was actually composed in 1958 for a TV special saluting burlesque. It wasn’t released as a record until 1962 when MGM needed a B-side for Dave’s version of “Ebb Tide”. An office boy reviewing tape recordings of Dave’s music found “The Stripper”, which became the big hit!
