DOBIE GILLIS is DEAD…..
UNDATED (AP) – The man known by a generation of TV viewers as the star of Dobie Gillis has died. His family says Dwayne Hickman died yesterday at his home in
Los Angeles from complications from Parkinson’s. He was 87.While he did other roles and went on to become a network TV executive, Hickman will be remembered for his Dobie role. When former President Bill Clinton met him while he was
governor of Arkansas, he exclaimed, “Oh, my gosh, it’s Dobie Gillis! I grew up with you!”Despite the public’s fixation with the one role, Hickman didn’t seem to mind. He told a reporter in 2003, ”it’s very sweet to see how much Dobie Gillis meant to a lot of baby boomers“, noting that they were “always nice” when they met him. His autobiography, co-written with his wife, came out in 1995. The title: “Forever Dobie.”

Wake Up Song of the Day: Yello “Oh Yeah“. It’s a “One Hit Wonder Monday” song! For our purposes, defined as a singer or group known for only one song to chart on the U.S. Billboard Top 40. Or, even if a second song is on the chart, it is overwhelmed and generally forgotten because of the success of the “One Hit Wonder”. In 1985, this Swiss electronic band achieved one hit wonder status in the USA with this song most notably used in the movie “Ferris Buellar’s Day Off”.
