Wake Up Song of the Day:    Taylor Swift “Shake it Off”. It’s the Friday Flashback Song!   We “Flash Back” in 10-20-30-40-50-60-70 year increments to find Number One Songs at this time that are still remembered today, along with the artists and groups that perform.   Or, Number One Songs that are long forgotten, along with the artists and groups that perform.   Just 10 years ago in 2014, Taylor was #1 for 4 non-consecutive weeks with this song she wrote. It was the lead single from her 5th album “1989”. The song was chosen as the lead for this album that was marketed has her first pop album following previous country-style releases. “Shake it Off” also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Hungary, Mexico, New Zealand, and Poland. After two weeks at #1, Taylor dropped to number two and stayed there for 8 weeks behind Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”.
Then, Taylor returned to #1 for 2 more weeks!

Twice Taylor sued for “Shake it Off”. The first time for a claim of plagiarism which a judge dismissed. The second time for a claim of copyright infringement which was dropped.

Earlier this year, “Weird Al” Yankovic covered the song as the final song of his 2024 polka medley “Polkamania!”.
