Wake Up Song of the Day: Paul Simon “Kodachrome”. It’s a “Songs that Peaked at #2 Monday”! Every Monday, we play a song that you may think hit #1, but never did. Or, perhaps you thought this song never did as well to reach #2! In 1973, “Kodachrome” was the lead single from Paul’s third studio album, “There Goes Rhymin’ Simon”. The song was named after Kodak’s film brand Kodachrome. Paul peaked at #2 for two weeks in 1973 behind Billy Preston’s “Will it Go Round in Circles”. Paul always thought the first line of the song was the “most interesting” part of the song, “When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school…” The song was banned by both the BBC and the Federation of (Australian) Radio Broadcasters due to its trademarked title.
