Wake Up Song of the Day:     Blood, Sweat & Tears “Spinning Wheel. It’s a “Songs that Peaked at #2 Monday”! Every Monday, we play a song that you may think hit #1, but never did. Or, perhaps you thought this song never did as well to reach #2! In 1969, Blood, Sweat & Tears won an Album of the Year Grammy for their album named after the group. From this album, three straight songs were released that all peaked at #2. “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” was the first, “And When I Die” was the third, and the middle song was “Spinning Wheel” that spent the most weeks at #2 with three weeks. It was kept out of the top spot for one week by Henry Mancini’s “The Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet” and then for two weeks by the song “In the Year 2525” by Zager and Evans. “Spinning Wheel” did hit #1 on the Easy Listening Chart for two weeks and it crossed over to chart #45 on the US R&B chart.
