Woman Dies While Trying to Jump Onto Moving Train

A 39-year-old Hale woman was killed in East Tawas after allegedly trying to jump onto a moving train.
According to police, the woman was walking near the tracks at West Bay and Newman streets around 11:40 P.M. last Friday when a Lake State Railway engineer reported seeing he fall. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, where the woman suffered critical injuries. She was taken to MyMichigan Medical Center in Tawas where she was pronounced dead. Police say the woman had been drinking at a nearby bar, claiming she was goig to jump onto a train, and left the bar when she heard the train whistle.
Her name has not been released at this time.
