Wintry Weather Leads To Crashes And Freeway Closure

Crashes on I-75 in northern Genesee County that began late Monday morning caused a closure of I-75 between Mt. Morris and Birch Run.  Several inches of snow brought slippery driving conditions and poor visibility.  A Genesee County Sheriff’s patrol unit was involved in a crash with a semi.  The semi lost its load of coiled aluminum extending the time needed to clear the freeway.  Southbound traffic was being diverted from I-75 at the Birch Run exit causing heavy traffic on Dixie Highway. Snow is expected to continue into Monday evening.
