Waterway Inspection to Assist in Flood Reduction in Midland County

Crews from the Spicer Group will be conducting an engineering field review and collecting data on Midland area waterways for the next couple weeks.

Midland County, the City of Midland and the Midland Business Alliance (MBA) Advisory Committee on Infrastructure are working on ways to reduce the frequency and severity of flooding. When debris, sediment, fallen trees and branches are in the local waterways, they can potentially obstruct good flows and impact local flooding. The data from the inspection will be used to determine priority areas for future cleanup work. Area residents should be aware that crews will be seen regularly around the rivers, drains and culverts in the days ahead. The waterways include: the Tittabawassee River, Sturgeon Creek, Snake Creek, State Drain and other local drains. The project will start next Monday.
