Volunteers Wanted to Help Capture Lonely Dog Stuck on Island

Animal Control in Clare County is having trouble rescuing a Great Dane stuck on an island in Cranberry Lake.

The dog, named Zaria, somehow got free of her leash one evening and ran away, eventually ending up on the island, where she’s been for about 12 days. Officials say she is eating, but not enough. Several attempts to trap the dog have been made, with no luck so far.

Animal Control is looking for volunteers to help capture Zaria and get her back to her home. Please call (989) 539-3221 to volunteer.
