Volunteers Needed In Saginaw’s Arson Watch
Police and fire departments in Saginaw are looking for volunteers to participate in the city’s Arson Watch around the Halloween holiday.
Historically, the city had trouble with fires being set on October 30, the evening before Halloween. Since the city began its Arson Watch, however, those numbers dropped drastically, with only three confirmed arsons in the past nine years, according to city officials.
Rebranding that night as Angel’s Night, city residents have volunteered to keep their eyes and ears open for any suspicious activity and report it to 9-1-1. Groups of volunteers patrol sections of the city on October 30 and 31, either on foot or in vehicles.
Anyone interested in volunteering, or even donating, can visit the Saginaw Arson Watch Facebook page or contact a local neighborhood watch group.
