Vicki Barcia Passes Away After Three-Year Cancer Battle

A Bay County politician’s wife has passed away.

H. Victoria “Vicki” Barcia, wife of Bay County Executive Jim Barcia, died Monday, January 11 after a long battle with cancer. Born in 1951 in Bay City, Barcia went to school at All Saints High School, graduating in 1969. She worked briefly for the Pinconning Journal as a journalist and served as Vice President of the Pinconning School Board. Barcia also worked as an admissions counselor at Great Lakes College and was co-owner of B & W Dental Labs.

Vicki married Jim Barcia in 1993 in the chapel of the US Capitol. She said her most important “job” was helping to navigate her husband’s political life, always keeping him grounded as his political partner and confidant.

A Life Celebration will be held following the COVID-19 pandemic and will be announced by the funeral home.
