The city of Bay City has reintroduced utility shutoffs for customers who don’t pay their bills.

Notifications of utility service disconnections, which were suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic, were restored March 1 for non-payment of electric service for residential and commercial customers. Residential water service shutoff are still suspended, but those shutoff notifications for commercial water customers has also resumed.

Payment arrangements can be made by calling (989) 894-8104. Anyone needing assistance with utility payments can call 2-1-1 Northeast MI at 1-888-636-4211 or the state Department of Health and Human Services at (844) 464-3447 for emergency relief.
