Two Tornados Reported In MidMichigan Sunday

Two tornadoes were reported to have touched down in mid Michigan Sunday evening.

The first tornado, and EF-0, touched down in Gratiot County between Rich and Alger roads near Hayes Road at 5:50. It was on the ground for three minutes with peak wind speeds of about 65 miles an hour. It traveled 2.4 miles and had a width of 10 yards. Damage was isolated and minimal, according to the National Weather Service.

The second tornado appeared about an hour later near the village of Holly in Oakland County. The National Weather Service reported that tornado, also an EF-0, to have touched down at at 6:56 P.M. near Fish Lake and Fenton roads. Peak wind speeds were about 70 miles an hour with the width of the tornado’s path about 50 yards. It traveled one mile for two minutes, heading northeast into Holly and dissipating near Crapo Park. Some damage was reported to trees and housing material like shingles and siding.

No injuries were reported in either tornado.
