Teen Killed In Clio Crash Identified
A 16-year-old boy was killed in a crash in Clio on Monday.
Police have identified Landon Leighton, who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by another 16-year-old. Police say the car was heading east on Field Road when the driver lost control crossing the railroad tracks near Railroad Street around 2:30 P.M. The vehicle crashed into a tree and burst into flames, according to police. A passerby and nearby neighbors were able to remove the boys from the burning vehicle. They were taken to a local hospital where Leighton died from his injuries. The driver’s condition is unknown at this time.
The crash remains under investigation.
A candlelight vigil was held in memory of Leighton Wednesday night and a GoFundMe page has been set up to support his family.
