A Saginaw Valley State University track and field athlete competed internationally this past weekend following major wins in the NCAA Division II.

In May, Essexville native and Garber High School alum Cheyenne Williamson won her second straight pentathalon title, setting a new record by becoming the first female in NCAA Division 2 history to surpass 4,200 points in indoor track and field with 4,292.

Williamson joined Team USA to compete in the USATF’s 27th annual Jim Thorpe Cup, an annual heptathalon match up between the US and Germany. She finished 13th with a score of 5,262 points. Chari Hawkins of Team USA won the event with 6,152 points.
