SUV-Motorcyle Crash Under Investigation in Huron County

The Huron County Sheriff Department is investigating a fatal crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle.
Sheriff Kelly Hanson said the SUV driver, 58-year-old Michael Karinen of Imlay City, was eastbound with a passenger on Oak Beach Road shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday when he disregarded a stop sign, causing a collision with 32-year-old Eldon Pierson of Harbor Beach. Pierson was heading south on a motorcycle, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver and passenger were taken to McLaren Thumb and later transferred to an out-of-county hospital. There was no word on their condition. Hanson said investigators think alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
