Suspect Shoots Self After Police Chase is Arenac County

State Police troopers in Arenac County attempted a traffic stop Tuesday which led to the suspect shooting themself.

Police attempted to pull over a vehicle in an area on Twining Road around 5:00 P.M. when the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Police gave chase until the suspect vehicle became disabled in the area of Reed Road and Main Street in Clayton Township. That’s when police say the suspect threatened suicide. The state police Emergency Services Team was called in with negotiators trying to talk to the driver, who carried out their threat.

Police rendered aid immediately. The suspect was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
