Sterling Heights Woman Rescued from Car Fire in Mt. Pleasant

Police in Mount Pleasant rescued a 22-year-old woman from a burning vehicle Sunday night.

Officers responded to the single vehicle roll-over crash at the North Mission Road roundabout shortly before 10:00 p.m. They arrived to find the vehicle on its side with flames coming from the rear. Bodycam video of the incident shows police breaking through the front windshield and pulling the driver out, while also using a fire extinguisher to hold back the flames around the front of the vehicle. Soon after, police say the vehicle became fully engulfed.

The Sterling Heights woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
