State Police Helicopter Aids in Arrest of Alleged Home Invader

A man was arrested in Flint after allegedly breaking into a home and stealing a vehicle.

A State Police helicopter observed a vehicle being driven recklessly around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and alerted nearby troopers, who located and pulled over the Jeep Compass.

A video from the helicopter shows the vehicle drive away from the traffic stop. A trooper with the helicopter crew relayed information to troopers on the ground as the man abandoned the vehicle and continued on foot. Police eventually caught up to the 35-year-old from Pontiac and arrested him.

Investigators say he had just broken into a home and stolen the vehicle from the homeowner.

The man is charged with Home Invasion, Unlawfully Driving Away an Automobile, Flee & Elude, Resisting & Obstructing Police, Possession of Cocaine, and Driving With a Suspended License.
