The State of Michigan is investing in a Saginaw apartment complex. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) approved a $9.7 million loan for the acquisition and rehabilitation of Birch Park Apartments on the city’s southeast side.

The loan includes new flooring, the addition of energy-efficient appliances, upgraded HVAC systems, and other improvements to the 120-family housing unit apartment complex. The state says all units would be reserved for residents who are at 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and 12 units would be set aside for households at or below 40% of AMI.

The loan is one of four projects around the state approved at the February MSHDA meeting.
