Second Contract Agreement for McLaren Flint Nurses Under Review Thursday

Nurses as McLaren Flint are considering a second contract offer, with a vote scheduled to take place today.

According to officials with the nurses union AFSCME Local 875, nurses overwhelming rejected an offer in contract negotiations last Friday, with the hospital offering a 20 percent pay increase over four years, relief from rising healthcare costs and protecting staffing ratios. Prior to the first offer, the union had issued a 10 day strike notice and reissued the notice for October 29 if an agreement could not be reached. That notice has been cancelled as well, though a third notice could be issued following todays review of the tentative agreement.

Union officials say the hospital has revised its offer on health insurance and patient safety.
