Sebewaing Man Accused of Accosting Ice Fishermen, Leaving Man in Icy Water

Prosecutors in Huron County have issued charges against a Sebewaing man who allegedly left a fisherman in icy water.

On February 23, police say the suspect, 38-year-old Tanner Carr, was operating an airboat on a canal off the Saginaw Bay at the end of Kilmanagh Road in Sebewaing Township and encountered three other Sebewaing men ice fishing. The group became involved in a heated exchange, according to police, before Carr allegedly spun his vessel around the trio, breaking up the ice. While two of the men were able to move out of the way, a third fell through the ice. Police say Carr then left the area without assisting the victim, who was pulled from the water by his companions. He did not require medical treatment.

Carr is charged with felony assault, plus three misdemeanors: felonious operation of a vessel, interfering with a fisherman, and reckless operation of a vessel. He has posted bond and is prohibited from having contact with the three men or from operating a water craft.
