Saginaw woman faces embezzlement charges

A Saginaw woman has been arraigned on charges of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult for stealing money from her mother.

Valda Cork, 59, of Saginaw was arraigned in the 70th District Court of Saginaw County and charged with two counts of Embezzlement from a Vulnerable Adult over $100,000, and two counts of failure to or filing a false tax return. Cork was appointed guardian over her mother who was unable to care for herself. Cork reportedly spent $1.1 million of her mother’s money, spending much of it on the purchase of a condominium in Pompano Beach, Florida.

If convicted, Cork could spend twenty years in prison. Cork’s next court date is yet to be scheduled.
