Saginaw VA Exceeds Veteran Housing Challenge

Despite nationwide staffing shortages, the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw has exceeded its goal of housing veterans as part of the VA Secretary’s 38,000 Veteran housing challenge.

By the end of September 2022, the Saginaw Homeless Program and Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) permanently housing more than 160 Veterans when the goal was 137.

Saginaw is not alone in assisting Veterans with finding their forever homes. The VA is on target nationally for placing homeless Veterans with permanent housing solutions. According to a recent data, there has been an 11 percent decline in Veteran homelessness since 2020, the biggest drop in more than five years.
