Saginaw Train Derailment Cleanup Continues

Authorities in Saginaw continue working to clean up a train derailment near Van Buren and Niagara Streets.
Saginaw County Central Dispatch issued an alert around 1:45 p.m. that drivers were to avoid the area as several railroad crossings had been closed. Five cars and two locomotives left the tracks alongside the Saginaw River, with two of the cars spilling their contents of corn into the waterway.
No injuries were reported, and officials say there were no hazardous materials involved.
The cause of the derailment has not been announced. At this time, all railroad crossings have reopened.
Officials hope to have the train back on the rails by midday Monday, with cleanup expected to continue into the afternoon.
