Saginaw STARS to Hold Public Hearing on Fares, Other Issues

The Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services, or STARS, is holding a public hearing this week to get input from riders and others on several topics.

STARS has reduced fares to zero during the pandemic, but is proposing a reduced fare temporarily, before raising them again. The proposed regular bus fare would reduce from $1.50 to $1.00. Lift fares would decrease from $2.75 to $2.00, and monthly bus passes would decrease from $60 to $40.

The public hearing will also cover systemwide service standards and changes to STARS fixed routes. The hearing is at 3:15 p-m Thursday in the STARS board room at 615 Johnson. Fixed route buses will be able to take riders who would like to attend the public hearing from their closest bus stop to the STARS headquarters, and back to their bus stop at no charge. Written comments can be mailed or emailed to STARS Executive Director Glenn Steffens, [email protected], at the system headquarters.
