Saginaw School Superintendent Raises Concerns About State Budget Battle

Saginaw school district officials are among those nervously watching as the budget impasse between Governor Gretchen Whitmer and state lawmakers drags on with the start of Michigan’s new budget year looming October 1.

Saginaw Superintendent Ramont Roberts says the district’s own budget still has gaps the state needs to help fill in. Roberts added one district program whose finances could be impacted by a state shutdown involves pre-kindergarten students. He’s calling on state leaders to put politics aside and do what’s right for children while avoiding Michigan’s government being put on hold.
