Saginaw Murder Suspect Found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity

A man accused of killing another man in Saginaw County in 2018 was found not guilty by reason of insanity on Tuesday, March 9.

46-year-old Morgan Notestine was accused of killing his roommate, 66-year-old Wayne McComb, in their apartment in Spaulding Township in November 2018. Police say McComb was stabbed multiple times and his heart had been removed. Notestine had two separate psychiatric evaluations to determine his competency to stand trial. He had declined a jury trial, leaving the verdict up to Saginaw County Judge Manvel Trice.

Trice made the ruling Tuesday. Notestine is to be sent to the Michigan Center for Forensic Psychiatry near Ypsilanti for further evaluation for up to 60 days. Medical staff will determine his treatment.
