Saginaw ISD Provides Update on Brunkow Preschool Fire
The Saginaw ISD is still working on finding classroom space for more than a hundred students after a fire at Brunkow Preschool Wednesday morning.
Classes at the preschool were cancelled Thursday as the Intermediate School District continued to work on relocation plans. Officials say parents should be receiving a call form teachers by the end of Friday with new information, along with updates on other communication channels. The ISD is working to recover personal belongings from the building on 24th street, and are offering mental health support for students and their parents. Families can call (989) 752-2193 for more information on either of these.
Only 9 students and 32 staff were in the building when smoke was first discovered around 7:45 Wednesday morning. All busses were rerouted to return children to their homes. Officials say 10 classrooms were impacted, displacing 144 students.
