Saginaw Fire Damages Old Rifkin Building

A fire discovered on Sunday, May 1 heavily damaged at least one building along the west side of the Saginaw River.

The blaze broke out at the former site of Rifkin Steel and Scrap Metal at 1445 North Niagara. Saginaw firefigthers were joined by Buena Vista Fire Crews in putting out the fire.

Rifkin moved their operations a number of years ago to the opposite side of the river along North Washington.

The cause of the fire and extent of damage is still being assessed.
