Saginaw County Officials to Launch Inmate Voter Rights Campaign
This Thursday at 10:00 A.M. a coalition of local voting rights organizations and law enforcement agencies will host a news conference to detail the launch of the 2022 Saginaw County Jail inmate voter campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to allow eligible inmates at the county jail to register to vote and cast ballots inside the facility. Despite the fact that many persons housed in the jail are eligible to vote many don’t because of a lack of knowledge of their right to vote or an understanding of how to vote while incarcerated.
The effort will be led by the Saginaw County Clerk, Saginaw Country Sheriff William Federspiel and members of the County Sheriff Administration, the NAACP Saginaw Branch, T.D. Holden Jail Ministries, and representative from the Genesee County Office of Sheriff Jail Voting Access for All Coalition.
